Where Cobequid Bay meets Salmon River you will find the town of
Truro. First settled by Acadians in the early 1700's it was named "Cobequid,"
originating from the Indian word "Wagobqitk" meaning "the end of the
waters" or "the bay runs far" referring to the Bay of Fundy.
"The Hub of Nova Scotia" because of the CN Railway lines and more
recently its proximity to the Halifax International Airport, this
town is where vehicle traffic converges before continuing on the
Glooscap Trail and through to the Annapolis Valley. From here you
take in more Glooscap Trail territory or continue to Halifax on the
#102.
The town's central location makes it a popular destination
offering a variety of services, including a visitor information
center. A variety of accommodations, restaurants, services and
shopping in the downtown core or at the shopping malls will meet
your needs.
