Halifax is located on Canada's eastern shore, in the
province of Nova Scotia. Halifax is well known for its friendly
hospitality, and many site seeing attractions for visitors to the
city and surrounding area.
During the summer months the Waterfront attracts tourists and locals
alike, taking in the beautiful ocean scenery, boats in the harbor,
Historic Properties with small shops and eateries, the Museum of
Natural History which houses the Titanic exhibits, and the infamous
Sheraton Casino. Further up from the waterfront, you'll find Citadel
Hill, the Commons, the bustling Spring Garden Road area, Public
Gardens, Point Pleasant Park, all within walking distance of each
other.
Halifax hosts the International Tattoo each summer, as well as
numerous concerts at the Metro Centre from rock n roll to country.
In the downtown core of Halifax there is shops, eateries, night
clubs and pubs, and of course many businesses. No matter what
lodging spot one chooses in the downtown area all are within walking
distance to all of the city's downtown tourist attractions.
Halifax has several hospitals, including the QEII Health Sciences
Centre, Grace Maternity, IWK Children's Hospital, The Halifax
Infirmary, as well as two rehab centres.
Halifax is home to several universities as well, Dalhousie
University, Saint Mary's University, Mount Saint Vincent, Kings
College. In addition there are several Private Colleges in the
downtown area including Compu College, ITT, CDI and others.
There is a small shopping mall in the downtown area of Halifax,
Scotia Square; and several others in the West End of the City,
Halifax Shopping Centre, West End Mall, Bayers Rd Mall.
There are at least eight lodging spots in the downtown core area of
Halifax, all within walking distance to the downtown area and all
its' attractions. The Spring Garden Rd area which is just off of the
old downtown core has several fast food outlets including Dairy
Queen, Harveys, KFC, Subway, and small other eateries in the Park
Lane Mall located directly on Spring Garden Rd.
The city of Halifax is home to thousands of tourists each year,
