Liverpool "Port of the Privateers" was founded in 1759 and has a
rich history of ship building.
A stroll through Liverpool with our
Historical Walking Tour Brochure brings to life over 32 sites with
roots as far back as 1763. The Privateers take you back to the 1780s
as they dress in period attire armed with muskets of the day. You
can enjoy our Privateer Gun Salutes and historical recreations
throughout the summer.
More of our heritage unfolds in our historic murals on the Liverpool
Waterfront. The Liverpool Town Hall is a National Historic building
built in 1902, being one of the only two wooden administration
buildings left in Canada. The Astor Theatre is also housed in the
rear of the Town Hall and is one of the most active theatres in Nova Scotia.
You can explore our Privateer roots in the Queens County
Museum, Perkins House Museum and Fort Point Lighthouse Interpretive
Park and join in July 1 featuring the historical re-enactment.
