In the heart of the Annapolis Valley, with Cape Blomidon as
a backdrop, lies the village of Canning. Nestled among large elms,
maples, oaks and apple trees this quiet, peaceful, cozy, comfortable
village is waiting to be discovered and enjoyed.
Originally known as
Apple Tree Landing, Canning was settled in 1700 and was once a major
ship building town which supported a vast agricultural export
industry.
The charm of this village is evident by its many century homes and
thriving commercial area. Stroll down the village street, take tea
in the afternoon, or pack a picnic lunch to take on the rest of your
tour.
Canning is a great place to visit. Friendly with the charm of
the past, a superb hospitality with
B &B's, unique shops and local
crafts. At the riverside park is a most interesting ship-building
historic display.
